Once the framing started, two things happened to change my perception of the project.
First, the house began to look much bigger, because I could more easily imagine how expansive the floor space is (the concrete foundation walls, in contrast, tended to break up my visualization).
Second, it really began to look more and more like a house, because I could more easily imagine walking around in it.

I have to mention that our loyal canine companion took a long time to figure out how to get out of the “maze” and up into the garage pit where I was standing to take the last sequence of photos.
